Movie Review:
Homer Hickam (Jake Gyllenhaal) lived in a Small Coal mine city at UnitedStates. At that time, Russia launched the first Rocket named ‘Sputnik’ in the History of Science. Homer is a High school student who is having a dream of launching a Rocket in Space, as getting inspired by Sputnik. His father John Hickam (Chris Cooper) is a Supervisor in the Coal Mine. Homer’s brother is a Rugby player in college team. Homer’s mother is a Home maker who is always taking care of Homer. Three of his classmates are also having the same dream to follow their rocket dreams. But none of their families support them. But the students never give up their dreams. The main income of the City is from the Coal Mine. Most of the Children from Coal mine city is gonna work in the Coal mine after their studies due to their family situation. On the other side, Homer and his friends are followed of their dreams to launch a rocket for their National level Scholarship Competition. Homer’s father Hickam is always busy in his Coal mine job. Due to heavy work, John Hickam was suffered by Lung problem. Homer’s elder brother is a Rugby player who got a Scholarship in a College for his Sports talent. At this time, Homer is updating his knowledge regarding Rocket science. His team-mate Quentin (Chris Owen) is also an another brilliant boy with immense talent. So the ‘Rocket Boys’ started their rocket project and testing it. The welding man ‘Bykovsky’ in Coal mine help the boys to make their rocket in steel. At some instant, Homer father was unhappy with Bykovsky activities. So he transfer him to the Center Coal mine. After this, the ‘Rocket Boys’ find a place to start their project. It’s nearly 8 miles from their home. But the four boys are very energetic and they keep on try their best. Mr.Bolden (Randy Stripling) yet to know about their Rocket project, and he is the first person who guide the boys in Rocket launch. Also, Homer’s teacher Risley (Laura Dern) motivated the boys and help them in their dream project. Day by day boys are finding their faults and learning themselves. Peoples from Coal mine city are yet to know about ‘Rocket boys’. One day few Peoples from City went to the Rocket launch. At that time, the Boys were success at first time in their project, the rocket goes miles. So the boys really happy and plan for their next big moment. But Unfortunately there is a bad incident happened and the boys were arrested. Mr.John Hickam recover Homer and his friends from Jail. He warned the boys to quit their dream project. A that time, Homer’s father was severely injured in the coal mine. Now, Homer is in Crucial situation to save their family. BTW he dint go to school and start to work in Coal mine. Also his friends stop their dream project. Finally with a great advice and inspiring speech from teacher Risley, Homer back to his school and start his dream project with his friends. This time the ‘Rocket Boys’ never give up their Dream Project. At last the boys team won the ‘National level Scholarship competition’ with their project. All the four boys were Get scholarship for the national college and start their wonderful life.
About the Film : This film is based on a true story of ‘Homer Hickam’ a former NASA engineer. Directed by Joe Johnston. If you in need of some inspirational energy, then I suggest you to watch this movie. This is one of the best Inspirational movie which I have ever seen. . Few scenes are really touching our lives. Jake Gyllenhaal acting is very realistic and more energetic. Other boys also acted well. I like the scene ‘Homer talk to his father after winning the competition’.Its very real in modern times. I saw this film two times and I felt myself as more energetic, more confidence. Thats the success of any good movie.
